Notis is a decentralized social network with no company in the middle and no coins handed out at launch. It runs on two separate ledgers — one for what people say, one for what things are worth — and it's built so that gaming the system costs more than it's worth.

The one idea to start with

Notis keeps reputation and money completely apart. Karma is reputation you earn by contributing; credits are money that's mined and traded. A firewall stops them from ever converting into each other — so reputation can't be bought, and money can't be earned just by being popular. Your content stays yours (you can delete it), and security comes from proof-of-work that answers to neither karma nor wealth.
